'Les Glorieuses de Bresse' poultry contest
Pont-de-VauxGastronomy lovers are in for a treat! The traditional Bresse poultry competition, along with the gastronomic exhibition and the Ain flavours market!
A festive and gourmet Sunday celebrating Bresse Poultry and its farmers!
10:00 a.m.: The Poultry Contest opens to the public at the Salle des fêtes.
11:30 a.m.: Parade and welcome for officials and the guilds—official tour and introduction of the farmers.
Starting at 12:00 PM: Announcement of the winners and presentation of honorary awards to the winners. Presentation of the prize for the 18th “Le Chapon d’Or” Competition and Tasting.
Starting at 2:30 p.m.: The Poultry Market opens to the public—sale of contest poultry.
And at the same time... from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Espace Lamartine, Rue Lamartine:
Gilles Chazot Gastronomic Exhibition: presentation of dishes prepared by culinary professionals from Pont-de-Vaux and the surrounding area, as well as apprentices from the MFR in Balan, the CECOF in Ambérieu, and the CIFA in Mercurey; raffle.

We have to go back to December 24, 1865, in Pont-de-Vaux, to find the first record of a poultry competition. Bresse poultry farmers submit their finest rolled poultry for evaluation by a jury composed of seasoned gourmets, industry professionals, and chefs. The producers of the finest poultry receive the Grands Prix d’Honneur.
After the awards ceremony, it’s time for the Bresse fine poultry market. Chickens, capons, turkeys, and poulardes are on sale, much to the delight of enthusiasts and gourmets alike.
There are three other competitions in Bresse: Bourg-en-Bresse, Montrevel-en-Bresse, and Louhans.
