Farmers' market - Place Carnot

Lyon

The stalls are set up facing each other, forming a row around a hundred metres long. There are fruit and vegetable, flowers and herbs, meat and cheese stalls. At a glance, the Place Carnot market appears to be nothing special. But if you take a closer look...

If you pass by Place Carnot late afternoon on a Wednesday, you'll be surprised to see that there's a market held there from 4pm to 7pm. This was the very first afternoon market to be held in Lyon, created over ten years ago.
Tourists, passers-by and locals all come to take a stroll down the central walkway between the stalls and fill their baskets with the delicious produce. Plums, peaches, nectarines, tomatoes, courgettes, cows' milk cheese, lamb, etc. Some foreign tourists happen upon this market and wonder at the range of products on display. A group of young travellers can't help but stop by a goat's cheese stand. In 'brique' form, matured 'cabrion', dry 'cabrion, there are seven different kinds of goat's cheese on display. It's not easy to choose between them.
